How old do kids need to be to play golf?
Children are never too young to learn the game of golf. In fact, the
younger the better. The movies of Tiger Woods as a toddler hitting golf
balls are enough to inspire any parent to put a club in their child’s hand.
If a child starts playing golf at a young age, chances are he or she won’t
develop as many bad swing and etiquette habits as those who take up the game
later in life.
In addition to Woods, some of the game’s greatest players, such as Arnold Palmer
and Bobby Jones, started off by playing golf with their fathers. There’s no
guarantee your child will grow up to be another Tiger, but golf is certainly a

Absolutely! In fact, many programs offer a complete golf experience,
including some hot dogs, for less than the cost of a movie and popcorn.

- Family Fun Nights: Organized events where groups of
families play at the same time, Family Fun Nights are usually a 3-, 6- or 9-hole
scramble played from family-friendly tees and followed by a family picnic.

- Kids Play Free: Courses across the country are offering special deals where kids play for free when accompanied by a paying adult during select time periods.
- PGA Family Course: Thanks to a partnership with U.S. Kids Golf, courses around the country are installing "PGA Family Tees." These are permanent tees
at shorter distances where young players can experience the joy of lower scores,
building confidence to last a lifetime.
