HAVE FUN ... GET MOVING ... EARN THE AWARD

The PGA of America teams with President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition introducing golf as a fun, affordable and healthy option for families

As part of its involvement in the President’s Challenge Program, The PGA has committed to engage 50,000 individuals to earn a Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA) by engaging in physical activity on a regular basis during May and June. PALA recognizes youth and adults for following the daily-recommended physical activity guidelines (see below) and Play Golf America programs highlight golf as a fun family activity, while establishing the game as an enjoyable way to improve overall health for people of all ages. The physical activity guidelines established by PALA are:

  • adults who are active 30 minutes per day, five days per week, for a period of six out of eight weeks
  • youth who are active 60 minutes per day, five days per week, for a period of six out of eight weeks

Participants who complete the above requirements will receive a PALA certificate of achievement signed by the co-chairs of the President’s Council, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and Olympic gymnast Dominique Dawes.

Take the first steps toward a healthier lifestyle and join other golf fans taking the President's Challenge:

  • Visit MillionPALAChallenge.org to "register"
  • Once submitted, select "Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA) challenge"
  • Click "Groups" option
  • Search for "GOLF" groups
  • Join the PGA group that works best for you
  • Get moving and begin logging you activity
  • If you don't want to log your activities online, you can use a hardcopy form to track your activities
