Golf is a great game and a great way to get started is through a Junior Golf Program. You can play it all your life. With practice, you can develop the necessary skills to play it well. You don't have to be big, strong, fast or even part of a team to enjoy golf. And, the more you play, the more fun it is.
USGA-PGA Junior Golf Program
The United States Golf Association and The PGA of America announced a partnership for a Junior Golf Program in 2009 that focuses on expanding the number of junior golfers while fostering life-long participation in the game. The USGA-PGA partnership will begin with two initiatives: a Course Access program and an After School program.
- USGA-PGA Course Access Program
The USGA-PGA Course Access program provides lists of golf courses that offer affordable rates for juniors to play. In addition (coming Spring 2010), juniors can come back to this site and apply for the USGA-PGA Course Access Pass which is an on-line Rules, Etiquette and Skills tutorial. Upon successful completion, juniors will receive the Course Access Pass providing additional discounts from participating facilities. Juniors can search using the form above to find golf courses offering junior rates and Course Access Pass discounts.
- USGA-PGA After School Program (Press Release, October 22, 2009)
The USGA-PGA After School Program is a four to six week activity for one hour immediately after school that is being piloted in 8 PGA Sections. The program is conducted on or off school grounds once or twice a week, using traditional golf equipment with PGA Professional instruction.
