The following organizations founded PlayGolfAmerica.com to help grow the game of golf.
Link Up 2 Golf

LINK UP 2 GOLF is one of several exciting Play Golf America programs designed as a "Welcome to Golf." With the support of The PGA of America, the National Golf Course Owners Assn., LPGA, PGA Tour and USGA, Link Up 2 Golf features several elements to help new and returning players enjoy the game as never before. Each Participant receives the following:

Free Orientation: You can learn more about what’s involved in the upcoming clinics, get a tour of the facility, and meet the PGA and LPGA golf professionals and staff. These orientations are intended to make new golfers more comfortable with the concept of taking up the game, and all that it entails.

Equipment: Registered participants will receive the complimentary use of rental clubs and range balls during the clinic, when available.

Instruction: Group clinics are being offered throughout the year with a curriculum that covers everything from soup to nuts. During the 8 hours of group instruction, you’ll learn how to swing the club, chip, pitch and putt. Just as importantly, you’ll learn on-course etiquette, terminology, and how to properly conduct yourself in a golf environment. Instruction also covers:

  • Golf terminology and lingo
  • Proper golf attire, equipment, shoes and accessories
  • Golf course maintenance - divots, ball marks and course signage
  • Where to tee it up, how to spot balls, where to drive the cart
  • How to make a tee time, tend the flag, and mark your ball
  • How to play a scramble, and how to keep score!
  • Final 4-Hole Scramble: The Link Up 2 Golf program culminates in a fun, 3 or 4-hole scramble and graduation, often times held in conjunction with other classes at the same facility so you can meet people of the same ability.

On-Course Experiences: After your clinics, you can participate in a series of three supervised "on-course experiences" consisting of 3 or 4 holes each, thus enabling you to get more comfortable with actually playing golf. It serves as a comfortable transition from being a student to becoming a golfer.

Most of all, this program has been designed to be FUN, and because of the low student-teacher ratio, you will be able to make new friends with whom you can continue to play golf for years to come.

Golf Outings and Events: Several facilities offer opportunities for 3, 6 and 9 hole tee times early in the morning and late in the afternoons including short scrambles and beginner leagues. These could be used for groups wanting to get in a few holes on a weekly basis. Simply schedule a block of tee times at a nearby course and make it a weekly outing for your group of friends, or as a team-building initiative for your company or organization.
